Specifically, the following plans will be discontinued: SharePoint Online Plan 1 and Plan 2, OneDrive for Business Plan 1 and Plan 2. Going forward, these services will only be available as part of Microsoft 365 subscriptions.

What’s changing and when

  • June 1, 2026 — Microsoft will stop selling standalone SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business plans. Existing subscriptions can still be renewed at this point.
  • January 2027 — Renewals will no longer be available.
  • December 2029 — These plans will be fully retired and no longer supported.

What this means for partners

Partners are encouraged to review their customer base in advance and identify clients who are currently using these plans. It’s important to start planning their transition to alternative options, such as:

  • Microsoft 365 Business plans
  • Enterprise plans like E3 or E5
  • Additional storage add-ons, if expanded capacity is needed
